Well, we had a good run…
I’m sarcastic athiest caucasian who listens to heavy metal music and I’m not afraid to say what I think. Because of this, I wasn’t expecting a fightless school-life. Especially as my school is 98% Muslim, 99% hip-hop fan and 10% racist (roughly). I managed four and a half years without a single incident, which was far longer than I thought I would. But yesterday my record ended.
A large group of students (10-20) ambled up to me and politely asked why I’d been talking about them and their family members in a rude manner behind their backs. I didn’t even know these kind young fellows, and I avoid being rude to people. Thusly I told them I hadn’t done anything of the sort.
This seemed to rather annoy the group. I cleverly came to this conclusion by considering the evidence:
1) They all started shouting at me.
2) Five or six of them started punching me in the face.
Not a lot of evidence, but I’m quite on the ball when it comes to these things.
The whole thing only lasted about a minute, and I only ended up with a fat lip, and a little cut. I didn’t hit anyone (on purpose) and the police are getting involved.
I had the day off today, but I’m a little worried about school tomorrow. Now people think they can get away with it, and the number of people there who dislike me is amazing. Not because I’m rude or horrible to them, just upfront and not homophobic.
I’m hoping for the best anyway, and I figure the worst that can happen is a repeat of yesterday’s incident. I also think that staying in the more populated areas of school – or at least the places with CCTV cameras – should keep me pretty safe.
